CAPACITY BUILDING, SPECIES REINTRODUCTION AND DESIGN
We are working with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) to restore biodiversity across 12,500 km² of protected landscapes surrounding AlUla town. This ambitious program includes the reintroduction of five locally extinct species and, ultimately, the Arabian Leopard by 2030. Our role spans practical wildlife handling, veterinary training, post-release monitoring, collaring and telemetry, camera trap deployment, and advanced field survey techniques. We also designed pre-release enclosures and assessed reserve suitability for ungulate and leopard releases.
Beyond technical delivery, we are building capacity within RCU’s team through hands-on training and mentoring, ensuring future conservation leadership. Our work also includes market assessments for tracking technology, feasibility studies for aerial surveys, and development of global best-practice SOPs for capture, transport, and reintroduction. This project sets a benchmark for large-scale species recovery and sustainable conservation in the region.
RANGELAND REHABILITATION AND MANAGEMENT
Our greater Conserve team has extensive experience with rangeland management and rehabilitation of degraded landscapes. Their project experience spans multiple countries and habitats from grasslands in Namibia to sand forests in Mozambique and an array of overgrazed landscapes across Africa. Their efforts already showing positive impact for the environment and natural guardians within each region.
CONSERVATION AND RESERVE MANAGEMENT
Conserve Consulting is also engaged in a confidential project that seeks to ultimately develop 10 new reserves in Saudi Arabia. With our client, we have developed Concept Master Plans and Detailed Master Plans for the first three of these reserves that plan to break ground at the end of 2025. Our work here involves turn-key design of the complete value chain associated with a reserves – baseline surveys, management model and staffing structure, operational management plan, conservation protection plan, technology and communications plan, restoration plan, rewilding plan and indigenous wildlife breeding plan and associated infrastructural development.
CONSERVATION BONDS
Our team is actively supporting the World Bank on the development and implementation of wildlife conservation bonds in South Africa and Rwanda. The bonds seek to raise funding using mainstream financial instruments applied as innovative finance models to fund crucial conservation. In South Africa this involves the Rhino Bond and in Rwanda a Chimp Bond.
CONSERVATION TOURISM
We partnered with a private client and Bhutanese government stakeholders to shape the future of conservation tourism in this 269 km² sanctuary in southern Bhutan. Our work included strategic planning for tourism infrastructure, wildlife rehabilitation facilities, and protocols for species management—such as safe capture and relocation of Gaur and Takin, mitigating human-wildlife conflict, and creating ethical Red Panda viewing experiences. This project strengthens biodiversity protection while enabling sustainable tourism that benefits local communities and conservation efforts.
WILDLIFE BREEDING AND TOURISM FEASIBILITY
Specialist advisory services delivered through virtual meetings with stakeholders. Services include reviewing existing materials and data to inform breeding centre business cases, recommending suitable native species for breeding, and identifying optimal facility locations based on ecological and logistical criteria. The team provides inputs on food and water requirements, conceptual facility design, and market assessments to evaluate supply and demand. Additionally, Conserve Consult contributes to protected area planning by validating existing concepts and assumptions, and proposing new eco-tourism facilities and activities. Their involvement includes participation in workshops to ensure collaborative and informed decision-making.
Conserve Consulting are an official vendor on the PWC Saudi platform and are positioned to deliver our full suite of services across the region.
CONSERVATION BONDS
A joint project with Cultivo to develop a carbon project: The Restoration and Conservation of the Soutpansberg for and on behalf of the Few & Far Collection travel company.
CONSERVATION TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
For this 17,000-hectare reserve bordering Kruger National Park, we delivered an assessment and feasibility study to guide decision making related to conservation-driven tourism and / or regulated hunting. Our assessment involved a site visit and review of the landscape, habitat, game populations, opportunities for visitor experience, reserve and conservation operations. We also provided recommendations on access, target market, lodge size and infrastructure and financial viability, to ensure a balanced approach that restores biodiversity, generates sustainable revenue, and empowers local custodians.
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PLAN
We were commissioned to develop a comprehensive 5-year strategic management plan for the 13,000 km² Lunga-Luswishi Game Management Area on the northern boundary of Kafue National Park. Our work included defining conservation priorities, sustainable land-use strategies, and operational frameworks to enhance biodiversity protection while creating economic opportunities for local communities. The plan provided the client with a clear roadmap for habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching measures, and tourism development—ensuring long-term ecological integrity and financial sustainability.
We are proud to regularly collaborate with specialist teams to ensure we deliver the best outcomes for each of our projects.
