CML recently participated in the HIMA 2024 conservation conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the first international conservation conference held in Saudi Arabia and the main theme was Rewilding, Restoration and Reintroductions. CML’s Stuart Slabbert hosted an expert panel discussion that included the head of conservation from Neom, Dr Paul Marshall, the general manager of the Saudi National Centre for Wildlife, Mr Ahmad Al-Boug, the head of department of zoology at Otago University, Dr Philip Seddon, the head of biology at University of Oxford, Prof Tim Coulsen and Saudis NCW’s Mr Robert Muir. Key aspects to ensure successful restoration, subsequent restocking and rewilding of indigenous wildlife were discussed.
