Pete Newland is a seasoned security and ranger training specialist with over three decades of global operational experience, including 17 years of distinguished service in the United Kingdom Special Forces (22 SAS).
His career has been defined by a commitment to protecting both people and wild places, with a unique ability to translate elite military expertise into impactful conservation outcomes. Pete has played a pivotal role in strengthening wildlife protection across Africa and the Middle East. As a Senior Training Advisor to the Royal Commission for AlUla, he has led ranger training and mentoring programs across six national parks in Saudi Arabia, helping to build a new generation of conservation professionals equipped to safeguard biodiversity in challenging environments. In East Africa, Pete has served as Chief Instructor to armed wildlife protection units at leading conservancies including Lewa, Ol Pejeta, Borana, and Ol Jogi, as well as mobile teams within the Northern Rangelands Trust. His work has extended to ranger forces in Angola, Zambia, and Ethiopia, where he has delivered tactical training, surveillance expertise, and trauma care instruction tailored to frontline conservation needs.
