Conserve works to keep ecosystems intact and productive, helping communities adapt and thrive through nature-led approaches to resilience and development. We support community-led solutions that protect biodiversity, promote equity, and secure the future of Africa’s wildscapes as spaces for both nature and people to flourish.
A world where nature conserves us.
To conserve large wildscapes by forging solutions with local communities.
Six villages came together to form the Mwai Association, securing legal land tenure for the first time in their history. Choosing conservation over other land uses, they entrusted us as long-term partners to help manage their 100km2 concession.
ACTION: Support community-led conservation through secure land rights and trusted partnership.
In a landscape once overlooked, trust-building came first. By engaging deeply with communities around Tondwa Game Management Area, we laid the groundwork for co-management rooted in shared purpose—not just paperwork.
ACTION: Prioritise trust and long-term relationships to uphold the spirit of tenure agreements.
In a bold act of self-determination, local leaders in Suguta Valley invited us to support a peace-driven vision for their future. By creating village committees and uniting Turkana and Pokot voices, dialogue is replacing division.

ACTION: Invest in community monitoring to reveal, restore and revalue hidden ecosystems.
Once scarred by unchecked wildfires, Tondwa now breathes easier. With community-led controlled burns, fire is no longer a threat but a tool—restoring balance to the rare Itigi-Sumbu thicket and safeguarding surrounding livelihoods.
ACTION: Harness traditional knowledge and smart planning to manage ecological risks.
Where elephants once broke pumps and tempers ran dry, solar-powered water points now keep peace flowing. A simple switch transformed conflict into coexistence—fresh water for people, livestock and wildlife, all year round.
ACTION: Apply practical solutions to reduce human-wildlife conflict and sustain shared resources.
A sable antelope on a camera trap now represents something far bigger: a new financial future. We’re developing bio credits to monetise biodiversity, turning thriving ecosystems into investable assets.
ACTION: Create innovative mechanisms that value and finance intact, living landscapes.
Conserve’s expertise is in demand. In 2024, we secured $700,000 in consulting contracts—including work with AlUla and plans for ten new reserves under the Kingdom’s 30×30 vision. This advisory work generates vital unrestricted income while showcasing African conservation leadership on the global stage.
ACTION: Export expertise to grow impact and fund the mission.
Tourism has finally reached the Kunene Highlands. Ekoto Camp is just the beginning—a community-owned venture linking iconic parks, attracting travellers, and unlocking broader revenue streams from livestock to carbon credits.
ACTION: Pioneer nature-positive investment to sustain conservation and grow community economies.
Where fishing lines are lifelines, sustainable management means survival. Through household surveys, community feedback loops, and new infrastructure, we’re helping Tondwa communities track catches, form agreements, and protect their future.
